Hi, as you will have gathered my name is Chris Parsons. I am an English scientist working as an expatriate in Frankfurt am Main, Germany since 1991. This is a private homepage on my hobbies, personal interests (music, art, sport and photography) as well as on my academic career. I having been working at Merz Pharmaceuticals for 19 years on the physiological and pathological roles of the neurotransmitter glutamate in the central nervous system, ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors, with a particular focus on NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptors and the use of memantine in the treatment of Alzheimer´s disease. Amongst more personal things, this homepage details my work on NMDA and memantine and provides links for more information to the Merz and Memantine home pages.
The picture top right is of my two daughters, Anna-Katharina (left, now 20) and Francesca (middle, now 18) and me (right with a wine belly, if you had not guessed) in Yosemite in the Summer of 2004.
Please note that all papers are protected by publishers copyright. I have placed links here so that you can get an idea what I have published in the past (only PDF files listed). Most can be found in the Pubmed Database If you wish to obtain a copy, then please leave a request in my Guestbook
